Additional protection for notorious trademarks

The Romanian Patent and Trademark Office is on the verge of publishing a booklet on the importance of trademark protection, focusing especially on notorious trademarks.

For the very first time in Romania, this is a great opportunity for your/your clients' trademarks to be included therein.

The most important issue is that, once the Patent Office will publish these trademarks, their notoriety will be confirmed and may be invoked in all opposition and/or court proceedings without any other additional evidence in that respect.

In order to submit trademarks to the Patent Office, we shall need the following information:

• name and/or picture of the trademark;
• current ownership;
• the number, year and country for the first registration;
• Romanian registration number;
• other important worldwide registration numbers and information you might consider useful.

Our office will handle any additional processing, formatting and editing of the information free of charge.

The Romanian Patent Office will verify all of the above information and reserves its right to select from the submitted trademarks before publication.
