Marstrand, Sweden, Patent Cup Regatta 2010

June 10, 2010

What has already become a tradition for Ratza & ratza, this year's Patent Cup Regatta took us on the picturesque windy shores of Marstrand Island in Sweden.

The regatta was held in J/80 boats. The friendly competition had 12 boats at the start from U.S., Canada, Brazil, France, Germany, U.K. as well as two International crews.

Our colleague, Michael Enache was again part of the International II crew, skippered by Tom Vigil (U.S.). The International II crew also consisted of Claus-Dieter Hinz (Germany) and Petja Papula (Finland).

The Patent Cup was won by the US Team, magnificently skippered by Leif Sigmond. Second place went to team Canada and third to the European Patent Office team. Once again, it was a real honor to be invited to such a prestigious sailing event, reason for which Michael would like to personally thank skipper Tom Vigil for the kind invitation.

The Patent Cup was created by two friends, a German Patent Attorney, Peter Franck and a French Patent Attorney, Frederique Benech, in 1989, the year of the French Revolution Bicentennial. The annual sailing event cultivates camaraderie amongst patent and trademark attorneys all around the world, with every race being held every year in a different country.
